Then, plan your days out in a sensible manner mixing in down time for people watching in cafes along with your museum visits. So, pick the sites you absolutely have to see and leave the others for your next trip because there is no possible way to see all the classics in Rome in one trip. How’s a person supposed to tackle the laundry list of “must-see” attractions and maintain their sanity? Planning and patience. And every one of those tourists wants to see the exact same sites as you. It’s also massive, choked with traffic, and mobbed with gaggles of tourists from all over the planet. Room had a nice nespresso machine for a quick caffeine jolt after walking 10 miles through Rome and getting ready for dinner.Good news, you’re going to Rome! Bad news, so is everyone else on the planet. My only negative comment would be, and perhaps this was due to being on the first floor, from 7am-7:30am every morning we would be woken up by sounds out on the street, but then it would be quiet again. Lots of high end shopping right out the front door, very nice walk to many great piazzas and perfect at night with a quiet street to come back to that always has one restaurant open at the end of the block for a nightcap. While we were right near the Spanish Steps, we never felt like we were too central/ too touristy in location. We liked staying at Mario de Fiori- the location was fantastic- in a very chic part of town for shopping and great location. The front desk staff was very pleasant and helpful for making reservations or giving directions. ![]() The hotel was booked up but we never saw any of the other guests, we felt like we were staying in our own townhouse. The room was clean and spacious, as was the bathroom. We stayed for 4 nights in the double deluxe on the first floor.
